Sebaceous hyperplasia appears as small, soft bumps on the skin often with a pale yellow tone and a visible central dip. They’re most common on the forehead, cheeks and nose, where oil glands are most active.
These harmless bumps occur when sebaceous (oil) glands become enlarged and trapped under the skin’s surface, often as part of the natural ageing process or in those with oilier skin types.
Treatment with advanced electrolysis gently cauterises the excess tissue, helping to flatten the bump and restore a smoother skin texture. A scab will form and naturally fall away within around 7–14 days, leaving the skin clearer and more even.
