Milia are small, white or pearly bumps that sit just beneath the skin’s surface. They’re formed when keratin (a natural skin protein) becomes trapped under the skin, creating tiny, firm cysts.
They’re most common around the eyes, cheeks and upper face but can appear anywhere. Milia aren’t spots or acne and can’t be squeezed out at home attempting to do so can cause redness or scarring.
Treatment with advanced electrolysis (electrocautery) uses a fine probe to gently release and cauterise the trapped keratin, allowing the skin to heal smooth and clear. Results are immediate, and only a small pin-point scab may form, which naturally heals within a few days.
