Filiform warts are long, slender growths that often appear around the eyes, mouth, nose or chin. They can look like tiny threads or spiky projections coming from the skin’s surface.
These warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and tend to grow quickly. Although harmless, their raised appearance and location on the face can make them particularly noticeable or bothersome.
Treatment allows for precise removal using a fine probe to cauterise the wart tissue. This leaves the surrounding skin unaffected. A small scab forms after treatment and naturally falls away within 10–14 days, revealing smoother, clearer skin underneath.
