Common warts are harmless, non-cancerous growths caused by a virus called HPV (human papillomavirus). They’re most often found on the hands, fingers, knees or elbows and have a rough, raised texture sometimes with tiny black dots inside, which are small blood vessels.
They can appear on anyone and can spread from one area to another or to other people through direct contact.
Treatment with advanced electrolysis (also known as elecgently) cauterises the wart tissue, helping the body clear the virus and restore smooth, healthy skin. A small scab will form after treatment, which naturally falls away within around 10–14 days.
